Questioning and Investigation

We are all aware of the extensive and similar illnesses that individuals in our community have been developing over the past years. This is clearly not a case of genetics but something else that needs to be investigated. We must research and find the link between our surrounding environment and this illness.

Initiating this investigating I would start speaking to members of the community who have been affected by the illness. I would speak to the health commissioner of public health and safety of our town. I would ask which age group is being affected the most? Are the elderly or middle-aged members of the community being affected the most? What is the age group of the kids being affected? What are the symptoms? Is it a rash? A fever? What is the nature of the illness? Are there any rodents in the area? Does everyone in the community shop in the same store? Do most members of the community visit the same doctor? Who exactly is affected? How are they affected?

The type of research I would conduct would be by examining the community, and symptoms based on the questions that I would ask those in the community both the affected ones and the non-affected ones. I would read the newspaper to see if there are any articles written on the epidemic this community is facing and what the experts think it might be. I would also research to see if there are any health advisories in this particular region.

Ways that I can overcome the obstacles to critical thinking is by asking and organizing questions in a logical fashion like, who, what, where, when, why, and how. I would ask questions that are not so obvious. I would definitely try to think outside of the box. I would also apply the five impediments of critical thinking.
