Career Plan Building Activity: Work Culture Preferences

Knowing your ideal work culture is fundamental in developing strategic and operational plans to achieve organizational goals. When conducting a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis certain competencies are essential. The four competencies involved in a SWOT analysis can be used for developing a Career Building Plan, but each plan will vary between individuals, as everyone has different skills, abilities, and experiences.

The individual Career Interest Profiler generated from completing the Career Plan Building Activity: Work Culture. The work culture section was a 113 questionnaire designed to identify my ideal career environment. After reviewing the results of my survey of my ideal work culture, two most prevalent competencies are strengths and opportunities. My survey results indicate that I am a team player, resourced well especially, in high-powered demanding jobs, I would consider these strengths. I work well in a cooperative and sharing atmosphere, always looking for a chance to learn new skills that help advance my career through promotion, I would consider these opportunities. Specific examples are working in a close-knit team, which works closely with customers and suppliers using the necessary resources to complete the high standard work.

The way in which I can relate my competencies to the essential competencies used for a SWOT analysis are that my competencies are considered my individual strengths, which I would use as a foundation for my personal SWOT analysis. Completing an individual SWOT analysis, I can review my known strengths and list out my weaknesses in order to avoid. Identifying my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, I can accomplish and develop my operational plans and organizational goals for the success of my business.
