Some people define courage and crossing the threshold as someone who dares to think outside the box or views the world in a new and innovative way. When I define courage and crossing a threshold I think of someone who despite their own circumstances they stand up for what he or she believes in and is driven by their sense of values.

Siran Stacy, a former Alabama football player, lost almost every member of his family, including his wife and four children in November of 2007. A tragic car accident that involved a drunk driver hitting his family van left Stacy and his daughter Shelly, age 4, as the only survivors. He was in a coma for 8 days and does have any memory of the accident.

Stacy struggled with depression and anger issues following the accident. His own faith in Jesus was questioned. It was at this time that he had the courage to walk in faith.

After the accident Stacy was asked to give his Testimony to a small Church in Gulf Shores, Alabama urging others to keep the faith despite their circumstances. Soon after, he started his own ministry speaking to groups that include prisons, high schools and churches. The main message that he talks about is the healing power of the blood of Jesus to the broken hearted. His focus is on men and their leadership role in the family.

After doing research on Siran Stacy, I realized that he not only had courage and stood up for his beliefs, but he did not take any credit. He knows that the true “Hero” is Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Before the accident he had a good foundation based on Jesus Christ. After the accident, he knew who to turn to when he needed help dealing with the struggles he was facing. After researching the story of Siran Stacy, I began to think of my own life and how I would respond in the same circumstance. I would hope that in the same or similar circumstance I would be able to keep my faith in Christ. I would hope that my foundation in Christ would remain strong. It definitely made me...
