Knowing your ideal work culture can help you in determining suitable channels for communication. Taking a look at what my ideal work culture preferences, I know that I prefer a challenge, expect all necessary resources to apply my expertise and expect to get paid for my hard work and dedication.

How does that apply to selecting the appropriate channels for communication? For instance, I am tasked with coming up with an action plan to prevent excess use of materials at my place of work. Being well resourced, I would have all the pertinent information need to formulate an action plan. Now all I have to do is decide what method is best suited for me to get my message across.

Dealing with many different levels of partners each channel can differ from one level to the next. When dealing with managers and department supervisors, I would arrange a team meeting. By arranging a team meeting I am a promoting a since of importance to those who are in attendance. I am also creating the opportunity for feedback, question and ideals.

On the other hand when dealing with lower level partners, I would choose a different channel than that of dealing with mangers and department supervisors. The best method I believe would to create a newsletter to be passed out to each partner. This creates an atmosphere of awareness. The downside to choosing this communication channel is that there is chance that the newsletter will go unread. Which brings me back to my managers and department supervisor. During my meeting with them, my action plan explains how important their role is in passing my message on to their subordinates. I choose to put out a newsletter to let those who choose to read it know that they are important part of reducing the cost of our product and I greatly appreciated in their hard work and dedication in cutting down the un-needed use of excess material.
