Competency Analysis
Personal Competencies
Understanding my personal competencies will help me become a better manager and communicator, being leader relies on strengths employees are expected to execute. The results of my competency analysis were very well rounded with a spike in logical thinking. As a manager it is required that you lead by example, managers who do not exercise this theory will normally have employees with sub-par performance. When it comes to communications I feel as if this portion roots from your personal life, by being a confident communicator in your personal life normally transcribe over into you professional life. Being a confident communicator will automatically give you the edge as this initiates a great first impression.
Changing Communication Techniques
Changing communication techniques to work with different functioning areas in my opinion is based on competency levels in that specific area. For instance, if I as a manager was not a strong accountant but had to set a meeting with the finance department of my business I would take a more humble approach as I would be relying on the professionals initially hired on to do what they are paid to do. If this situation was flipped I would take a more aggressive approach as my confidence levels would be a lot higher.
Focusing On Specific Competencies
Competencies that should be specifically focused on when adapting communication techniques are as follows, logical thinking, organization, innovation , and adapting to change. These specific traits are imperative to be considered an effective communicator as shown in the competency analysis, focusing on these traits will ensure effective communication.
