Abstract
Performance Management: Linking Rewards to Performance will increase performance efficiency. The human resources department is continuously seeking ways to increase operations efficiency and by doing that individual performances are a key component of performance efficiency. People seem to respond better by instant rewards and short term goals. An internal reward system needs to be developed in order to motivate each individual to reach maximum potential. Since each person is different, a variety of rewards needs to be accessible to trigger desired behavior. Some respond better to material rewards, others by recognition, and a few just knowing a job well done. So as a result it is important that leaders are well versed in emotional or behavioral intelligence so that the correct influences are used to promote desired results.

Performance Management: Linking Rewards to Performance will increase performance efficiency. Competition is a natural biological response because it drives the survival instinct with in all living things. It is in each person’s natural instinct to see what is there to gain. For example, I was taught to go to work every day and be on time, but apparently at my job many people did not think that basic responsibility was important. As a result a monthly reward program was placed for perfect attendance. The first month there were less than 10 people that won the award, but as months past the amount of people receiving the perfect attendance award continues to increase.
