How do information systems projects get started in organizations?

In case of Petrie' Electronics we can see that the need to compute and survive was a key point to start with ISP systems . Any company needs to use systematic approach to grow the business as Jim mentioned " Jim knew that part of his job in IT was to help the company grow and prosper and beat the competition—or at least survive".

Companies like PE have a data base of millions of customers, in order to rich out these people and offer them their services, the company need to organize the information and send customers their promotion and rewards to keep their loyal customers, so we can see the need of strong web site and fast and reliable software which can be easily loaded daily. the effect will be returning customers as John smith said " We are calling the project ‘No Customer Escapes.’”

What do you think Jim’s next step would be?

As it is mentioned in the book about Jim "Jim knew that part of his job in IT was to help the company grow and prosper and beat the competition—or at least survive." a bigger salary and a great job with more responsibility at Petrie’s.

Personally Jim is looking to grow and make more money for himself, but at the same time it requires him to start looking for using the techniques he has learned from school and previous job to bring a reasonable cost for this project with a good output,
