In the many years I have followed politics, I have grown to understand the propaganda that goes behind the elections. In America we are a democracy/communist/socialist system. Whether people want to believe it or not, our system is comprised of all these. The reason I say this is because the government makes rules and laws work in their favor when it is convenient for them. The power doesn't fully lie in the hands of the people. The government really has the final say so; however, our votes are factored in. I have also come to realize that there are TV networks that are biased toward a one of the political parties. For example, Fox News is biased toward republicans. This is so evident they should call them selves Republican news. Today show (NBC) tries to stay neutral but they are Democratic biased. Every election there are heated debated ridiculing candidates for what they did in the past and for what they may say. Many people have given President Obama grief for mistakes he has made. I do not know any human that doesn't make mistakes. I could talk all day about politics; however, there is another issue at hand.

In a public high school in Oakland, CA, teachers were wearing Obama buttons. A parent, who is a mccain supporter, complained. These teachers were told to take them off while in school teaching. In my professional opinion, the teachers at the school has every right to wear the button they want to wear. If the buttons were supporting Mccain, I highly doubt that the same parent would have complained. I understand “politicking”. I understand why they make the rule. However, I do not see how it is any different than wearing a Dr. Phil or a Ralph Lauren shirt. The shirt itself is an advertisement. I look at the button as a representation of the candidate they like, not an advertisement to brain wash the students. I think there is a violation of freedom of speech. In the...
