Some people in our society believe that homosexuals are child molesters in the making; therefore, they should not have children. When in fact a study has shown that 74% of  molestations are done by heterosexuals and 26% done by homosexuals, if you look at the numbers and take in consideration that homosexuals make up about one third the population, molestations done by homosexuals is the same if not lower. Others believe it is unnatural to be homosexual so it’s unnatural for homosexuals to raise a child. Let’s take this statement and say it is natural to be homosexual but God has prevented them from having children, so they should not raise children. If this is true, then those heterosexual couples that aren’t able to have children shouldn’t be able to legally adopt and raise a child because God has prevented them from having a child. Is this how our society is met to be? Most people worry about the effects homosexual parents will have on the child. They believe that the parent will force biologically and or socially their orientation on the child and the child will be bullied and confused for having homosexual parents. This was proved to be false by an American study that stated children raised by homosexuals have similar IQ’s, develop typical friendships, have a normal mental health and are no more likely to be confused about their sexuality than those raised by heterosexual couples. In fact, homosexual parents are more welcoming to their child to play with non-gender centric toys, thus it is easier for the child to discover their sexual orientation.

A couple in our society who wishes to have a child and become a parent should be able to. Our society should reexamine and add loving parents to the standard which we have set to raise a child and start a family, so it doesn’t just include heterosexual couples.
