Change Management & Communication Plan

Team B will construct a plan for Riordan Industries concerning customers’ management system. The plan will include how to implement the suggest plan, barriers the company may face, as well as how this new plan will affect the company. Team B will also be creating a communication plan concerning the new company changes, and the potential barriers that may come about with the new change.

Change Management Plan.

Riordan manufacturing depends on innovation to succeed in their market. Riordan understands the benefit of a team-oriented environment, but has shown that they are utterly ignorant when implementing it. Riordan has rendered their team environment impotent due to the restrictive nature of their centralized power structure. Riordan exemplifies high departmentalization and a narrow span of control. Although to implement the new customer management system will require some bureaucracy, the organization as a whole must be careful not to stifle innovation with a mechanistic model of structure. The extensive departmentalization and the coercive power that management exhibits over their subordinates have effectively reduced employee job satisfaction at Riordan.

Riordan strives for innovation, the organization takes pride in what they produce and defend their patents mercilessly when infringed. Riordan must adopt a boundryless organization model such as the organic model. One in which the chain of command is eliminated, the spans of control are limitless and replace the departments with empowered teams (Robbins & Judge, 2011). Gifted department heads, such as Patricia Miller, are disappointed with the inability to move up within the organization. Implementing a more horizontal decentralized structure and focusing on forming teams from across different departments may redirect their efforts towards greater goals for the organization.
