For Class Discussion: Practicing Dialectic Thinking with Two Articles

1. Kavanaugh might ask Reed to blame Mexico for not providing a better life that their people can live on. People from Mexico come to the U.S. for a better life and better opportunities for their family.

2. After reading Kavanaugh’s article I thought he had a great point that America should give illegal immigrants the opportunity for live here and that they come to America to create a better life for themselves and their family; however after I read Reed’s article, my thinking on the issue had changed because the U.S. promoting to illegal immigrants that if they come to America they will give you everything needed in order to start a life.

3. Kavanaugh and Reed disagree on who is to blame for the immigration issue. Reed argues that the U.S. is promoting to illegal immigrants to come to the country by providing good jobs, education, and the opportunity to become a citizen while Kavanaugh argues that illegal immigrants only come to the U.S. to create a better life for their family.

4. Kavanaugh and Reed disagree on giving amnesty to illegal immigrants. Reed argues that Americans want illegal immigrants to stay because they are willing to take on the cheap labor and actually show up and work which by doing so America is breaking its own law on immigration. Kavanaugh argues that amnesty should be given to illegal immigrants since all they are doing is coming here to work and not for bad intentions.

5. They both agree that illegal immigrants come to the U.S. to have a better life for themselves and their family.

6. After reading these text the question that makes me ask myself is if illegal immigrants come here to work and provide a better and stable life for their family, then why not give them the benefit of the doubt before deporting them back to where they came from?

7. My current views on this issue is why not give illegal immigrants the benefit of the doubt and let them prove themselves...
