Analyzing Credibility

Answer the following in regard to each of the two examples in a 100- to 200-word response (CNN Clip and one of the video links):

CNN and the Larry King Show paid for the video of the interview with former mayor of New York. I did detect a slant in the video, which was Mr. Giuliani’s opinion that our country was still at risk for attack since Osama Bin Laden had not been captured or killed. This video reflected that our society was still hurt from the actions that occurred on September 11 but was in the process of recovery and healing.

The video link I chose for the second example was the http://www.progressive.com/commercials/progressive-commercials.aspx, which was paid for by Progressive. This video did suggest a slant in which implied that Progressive offered cheaper insurance than other competitors offer and could save you money. This Video suggested that the society was in a bad economy and was out to find ways to save money in any way possible even down to selling personal belongings.

I was not skeptical of the sources credibility in any way. Larry king has been a reporter for many years and has always asked the tuff questions seeking true answers. Mr. Giuliani was the mayor of New York at the time of September 11 and new first hand what occurred and the impact it had on the state of New York. I detected a little bias but I believe this is because he was the mayor of New York when the Twin Towers was struck and was personally traumatized from the experience.
