Law is defined as a body of rules of action or conduct prescribed by controlling authority, and having legal binding force. Law is vital in our lives and if we have no law to obey and follow, then we will not have justice, or live in peace. Law creates duties, obligations, and rights that reflect accepted views of a given society.
Role of law is vital in both; society and business and that where we live and work. If there is no law that prohibits killing, stealing, smuggling, resisting authorities, raping, abusing, molesting along with other crimes, then people in society can’t live in peace or function normally. In addition, the role of law in business is very important as it provides a mechanism to resolve disputes arising from duties and rights and allows parties to enforce promises in a court of law. In general; law protects and control people as well as their businesses, houses, lands and provides them with a certain rules to follow and comply with in order to facilitate their living. Law gives us many rights such as the right of speech, the right to vote, the right to practice a certain religion, the right to work and go to school along with other rights. It provides individuals and families with the freedom they deserve, as long as they comply and obey the state and federal law. This way, and as law is set for all people living in any society; then there will be a control because there is a system that everyone follows and falls under.
According to "The Functions & Role of Law in Business and Society" (1999-2013, law is “a binding custom or practice of a community; a rule of conduct or action prescribed or formally recognized as binding or enforced by a controlling authority.” The role and function of law is to maintain peace, personal freedom and social justice.
