Construct and Support an Argument

I have chosen to pursue an MBA degree to further my education level and my career. Until recently, receiving an MBA degree was not one of my goals. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree, I thought there was no need to further my education. I felt that I have acquired enough knowledge and I will have no trouble finding a descent job. After receiving numerous rejection letters from companies I realized that most of my competitors were educated beyond the level of bachelors. Therefore, I have decided to pursue an MBA to further my career and achieve a higher level of education.

After taking what’s my Jungian 16-type personality assessment I scored INTP. The score was accurate and matches my personality. I am usually the first one to solve a problem but I have trouble communicating with my subordinates and my manager (Pearson Prentice Hall, 2007). Communication is very important in the corporate world and also in everyday life. By pursuing an MBA and communicating with the instructors and my colleagues will improve my communication skills.

My short term goal is to move up the ladder and become a manager. I have started working at the banking industry right after high school. I climbed up the corporate ladder from being a teller to an assistant manager. In order for me to reach my goal and become a manager, I will need to complete the MBA program and sharpen my management skills. The MBA program will also open many doors for me. I am also in the process of opening a lounge in New Haven, CT. In order for me to run this business successfully, I will need to acquire as much knowledge as possible. Therefore, an MBA degree will further my career and achieve a higher level of education.
