During the 16th century many empires established colonies over seas at what is
now known to be the United States. In 1607 the first tide of successful colonization happened
in James Town, Virginia by the English. This inspired other colonies from not only England
but also from France, German, Spain and many others to be established. This caused conflict
over land which leads to the French and Indian War over the Ohio Valley River. Great Britain
had an expensive price to pay for her victory contributing to her debt. Britain strengthened
her grip on the colonies and put forward taxes without including the colonists opinions. Even
though Britain was partially in debt from the war to protect her colonies the colonies had
every right to rebel against Britain. Between the settlement of Jamestown in 1607 and the
Treat of Paris in 1763, the colonists became their own society by changing their economic,
political, and social structure from that of England.
In a similar economic revolution, the colonist out grew their mercantilism
relationship with the mother country and developed an expanding capitalist system of their
own. Parliament passes laws to regulate the mercantilism system in the colonies such as the
Navigational Acts of 1650. These acts consist of putting restrictions on trade in order to
extract more revenue from the colonies and beginning to threaten their liberty and apply
these acts without actual representation in parliament also without the colonist consent. It
was very unfair that Britain was putting multiple restrictions on the colonies without there
consent. The enforcement of the Navigation laws was very harsh and the colonist resented
them very much. Parliament passed many tax acts that included paying for stamps and
having tax on many commonly used items. Most colonist were liberty love and had a lot or
