Computers Affects Lives

As I am typing this paper using a computer to write about computers it is like I am searching for Yahoo on Yahoo! At this point of time computers have become very popular and used worldwide, it has become a huge part in our lives that we are truly living in a computer revolution. After reading Deborah Brandt’s “Sponsors of Literacy” I have come to the point that computers have become another sponsor (a figure that has turned up most typically in people’s teachers of literacy learning). Before literacy was only the abilities to read and write, but now it is a varied of social practices and computer literacy because of the computer revolution has allowed everyone to gain more information on anything by the tip of our fingers on the mouse replacing the pen. Computers have also changed the way we interact with one another and how we spend our time in our daily lives. In Robert Putnam’s “Bowling Alone: America’s Declining Social Capital” he talks about social capital been the attitude and willingness of people to engage in collective and civic activities has declined dramatically because of how the society is changing, but I believe the computer has also made a footprint on the society for a long time. Over the years there has been a change on the way the society functions because of the computer revolution which has helped people in many ways pertaining to how they use computers, where they spend time, and how they learn.

Starting with how technology specifically computers have become an essential part in helping us thru making things easier and in the most effective way. Computers can store, organize, and manage huge amounts of information. For many years desktops remained popular for personal use and business use.
