Punishment versus rehabilitation programs is an ongoing dilemma throughout the United States, and the answer to all question and concerns is far from being answered or addressed. Drug addiction must people say it is a brain disease that affects a person behavior. Drug addiction cause a person to be able to think in a clear minds, not able to control their behaviors, A person well also not feel normal unless they have the drug in there system. A person well go to whatever measure they can do feed their habit. When under the influence of a drug a person well commit act of crime something that they wouldn’t do if they was in their right mind. But this doesn’t give them the right to go out and hurt someone or something because they are under the influence they should still pay for their crime The center are there to help a person through by giving them the help that they need to change and get on the right track to be with there family . For an individual that has a first and second nonviolent conviction meaning just a common drug charge , Drug treatment in a rehabilitation program can be effective. But if a person has a higher drug charge then a rehabilitation center w ell not be as effective if a person has just a simple drug charges. The same cannot be said for a person who continues to get drug charges and/or a person who commits crime while under the influence of drugs. This types of people well be sent to a prison to serve their time and not given an option to going to rehabilitation. Individuals who are drug offenders should be punished and held accountable for their action while under the influence of the drug , and sent to prison. Prison knows days provide special programs and services that well need to meet the needs of the offender. There are a...
