Club IT Part 2

Club IT is a downtown music venue managed and owned by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tekara. They both graduated with degrees in Business Administration in 2005 and decided to follow their dream of opening a nightclub. During college, they supported themselves by working as musicians; Lisa played jazz violin and Ruben played drums. They learned a lot about nightclub operations from their music experiences, in addition to business principles learned from their studies.

Club IT has recently been remodeled and now the owners are wishing to update their information technology system.   They have hired an intern to do an analysis of their current system and to come up with a strategy for improving their current system.   Their hope is to gain a competitive advantage in their market area.   The mission of the enterprise is to be a place where individuals can enjoy music, dancing, food and drinks.   After speaking with the owners and spending time observing how the business is run the intern has come up with some suggestions on how to improve the IT system at Club IT.

Three areas in which there are opportunities for improvement of the business functions at Club IT are updating Club IT’s customer interface technology, streamlining the club’s website and improving the club’s supply management chain.   Using the Joint Application Design (JAD) method would not only create a system that meets the needs of the club staff, but also it would benefit their customers.   The intern suggests that a brainstorming session with both the owners and employees be organized to decide what improvements to the information system at the club could be made to provide all with a system that will improve the club’s and individual’s performance, thus improving the club’s ability to better service their customer base.
