Criminal Justice and Its Careers

The branches of criminal justice include law enforcement, courts, and corrections. There are several careers in each of the said branches of the criminal justice. Each of these different careers helps to lead or to promote equality among all citizens of the community. Within each of these different branches are three careers that elevate my interest more than anything else. In this paper I will be going over the career of a FBI special agent, an assistant prosecutor, and a police detective and what interests me about the career.

An FBI special agent is a career that is very challenging and exciting in its own way. This particular job requires rigorous hours spent doing surveillance on its suspect, explore white-collar crimes; track the national movement of stolen possessions, or other types of crime. The FBI investigates organized crime, bank robbery, terrorism, espionage, drug trafficking, and other violations of federal statutes. Many FBI special agents are former local or state police officer (Bowman, 2006). The qualifications to becoming a FBI special agent are a long list of things, but are not impossible to obtain. Some of the qualifications are to be at least 23 years of age and a U.S. citizen, must pass a physical test, and must be able to pass a hearing test. Each of these qualifications is a must to be considered for the position of a FBI special agent.

This career stuck out to me because it is a great way to until to serve my country once I get of the military by continuing to defend the United States against the enemies whether they are foreign or domestic. I also am fascinated with the way they investigate serial killers and the way they think, like the behavioral analyst unit. This is fascinating to me to look at the people and maybe even preventing one day would be the icing on the cake for me. If I could be...
