Introduction to UNIX

-------------------------------------------------

Welcome

Welcome to POS 420, Introduction to Unix. I have been working with Unix for the past twenty years, with my main focus being Hewlett-Packard’s (HP’s) Unix operating system, known as HP-UX. I am also fluent in Linux, and have a smattering of experience with Sun’s Solaris operating system.

As HP’s enterprise strategy includes both HP-UX and Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server), I am able to work extensively with different flavors of Unix and Linux on a daily basis.

Now that I am facilitating at the University of Phoenix Online, I am pleased to be able to share my Unix experience with you. The world in which we all work requires a greater grasp of technology than that of any generation before us. I look forward to working with all of you to introduce the Unix and Linux operating systems.
