Rationale

In recent year, Hong Kong teenagers’ suicide rate is becoming more serious, in fact, there are many organizations has been a cause for concern with this problem. And the Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong is the most famous one, according to their report, in 2011, there were 833 people died in suicide, and it was down by 2.3 from 2010. And the most common means of committing suicide is jumping from building.

Recently, a 14 years old maiden suicide as her father prevents her with dating. This may show most of the teenagers don’t have a good concept with solve problems, they think that suicide is the best way to solve the problem.

To expect reduce teenagers’ suicide rate, The Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong always published publications and recommended teenagers read some inspirational books to encourage them to treasure life.

To clarify the reasons we had chosen this topic to study, we listed out and shown as follows:

1. As the suicide problem of teenagers is very serious in our society now, what effects it will bring to teenagers physiological and psychological? We especially want to know more how teenagers think about suicide, and how they solve their problems from other channels.

2. We would like to do the research from questionnaire with 100 students from different classes, so that we can know more about how they think about suicide/

Objectives

The major aims of the project are to the main reasons of teenagers’ suicide; how they think about suicide; how they would do when they are facing some problems. Apart from that, we hope that we can more understand teenagers thinking and reduce the suicide case.

Our target is teenager between17 to 21. We would like to survey the result by questionnaires and request schoolmates from different classes. Thus, the theme has been divided to these types: society (social pressure), family (family problem), education (study pressure) and peer (peer pressure). The details are shown as the following:...
