Club IT-Part One

Introduction

Information technology can provide a business with success and lack of information technology can lead to lack of success. It can open up opportunities for businesses otherwise they would not have. For example they can make contact with people in other countries without ever developing face-to-face contact. Many different information systems exist that a business can take advantage of such as computers, and programs. By implementing a strategic information system a business can have a comparative advantage against its competitors. All businesses strive to accomplish this constantly throughout the life of their business. We will take a deeper look as an intern into the information technology of Club IT, its information resources, and a strategy that would be effective and how they can pursue that strategy.

By becoming an intern at Club IT I was given the opportunity to take a closer look at their business operations. Club IT, is a nightclub run by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. I spent time with the owners before the club opened and was able to ask questions and gather information. I was also able to experience the club firsthand with a few of my friends. This nightclub features live music or music by a live DJ; this depends on the night of the week. The club also offers appetizers, drinks, and merchandise for purchase with the Club IT logo.

Club IT’s Motto and Clientele

The owner’s motto is "We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT" (Student Companion Site Rainer, Turban: Introduction to Information Systems/Supporting and Transforming Business 2nd edition, 2006).
