Role of a manager within the functional areas of Business

There is a variety of functional areas in a Business. These all are very essential for the success of an organization. These functional areas work hand in hand with one another so that an organization can function efficiently and effectively. The major functional areas of business are-

* Human Resource Management

* Finance

* Operation Management

* Marketing

* Research & Statistics

Human Resource Management- Human Resources of an organization are its employees. It is a concept of personnel development in a business. Different researchers define human resource planning in different ways. “HRP is the process by which an organization ensures that it has the right number and kind of people, at the right places, at the right time, capable of effectively and efficiently completing those tasks that will help the organization achieve its overall objectives.” (Decenzo & Robbins, 2007). “Human Resource Management is defined as a strategic and coherent approach to the management of the most valued assets of organization- the people, who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of organization’s objective.” (Armstrong, 2009)."In general, HRP is defined as deciding in advance how the organization predicts its future HR needs both in number and skill.” (Maksuda, Abu, & Afsana, 2012)

Manager’s Role in Human Resource Management-

At organizational level, HR manager is concerned mainly with various aspects of policy and procedures which affects organization or staff generally. It includes activities such as- Resource Planning, Recruitment policies, Induction and training etc.
