Egocentrism is a personality trait which has the characteristic of regarding oneself and one's own opinions or interests as most important or valid (Wikipedia, 2011). It also generates the inability to fully understand or to cope with other people's opinions and the fact that reality can be different from what they are ready to accept despite any change in their personal belief. Adolescent egocentrism is the belief that teenagers are special and unique, accompanies by the attainment of new mental abilities to think of social matters and self-consciousness are heightened to reflected their own personal quality. David Elkind was one of the first to really discover the presence of egocentrism in adolescence and late adolescence. David Elkind argues that "the young adolescent, because of physiological metamorphosis he is undergoing, is primarily concerned with himself (Elkind, David, 1967). Accordingly, since he fails to differentiate between what others are thinking about and his own mental preoccupations, he assumes that other people are obsessed with his behavior and appearance as he is himself (Elkind, David, 1967)." A teenager thinks that others teenagers especially their peers are watching them, thinking about them, and are interested in what they do and in what they think. Adolescent egocentrism represents an error in their believes that is the characteristic of early formal operations. At formal operations adolescents might think theoretically, entertain contrary-to-fact propositions, generate logical possibilities, formulate hypotheses and systematically test them. Teenagers assume that since he or she spend a lot of time thinking about their selves, others teenagers have to be doing the same , mainly thinking about and monitoring them. They fail to realize that while they may be preoccupied with themselves, others peers are not so inclined. Handsome
