TO DRILL OR NOT TO DRILL? THAT IS THE QUESTION

To Drill or Not to Drill? That is the Question

In regard to President Obama's decision on offshore drilling, I must say that I agree with both sides of this case. I think President Obama's support of offshore drilling has shown us that there is not necessarily two sides to this question; it is a strong economy and also being a strong nation. Which should include the development of more oil and natural gas here at home and buy less of it in distant markets, we will also develop all forms of alternative energy.

It is therefore reassuring to finally see a balanced approach to meet the energy needs of our country. We need a strategy that promotes the development of new alternative energy sources, encourage and reward conservation, but also includes the ability to responsibly develop our own natural resources. A policy that seeks an end to invest in our own energy sector is one that continues to send Our jobs and our hard earned money abroad. We import more than twice the volume of oil and products we make. New sources of clean energy and conservation can make a dent, but not eliminate this gap. New resources can be developed in a responsible manner while protecting the environment.

We need all parties to cease "my only" approach and move to an "all the above" solution. There is also another side of me that frowns on it. Even more worrying is the decision to allow the construction of new nuclear power plants. Regardless of the "safe" way they say these plants are, there is still no safe way to get rid of waste. Radioactive waste that lasts for thousands of years! I enjoy bringing my family to the beach and I do not want to see anything that may affect the enjoyment because of this decision.
