Police Influence

Beginning in the earliest english colonists days, the 1630’s jump started the familiar titles and concepts of policing. These concepts and ideas were based on the english policing systems. Law enforcement in the communities evolved over time resulting in major differences in responsibilities and titles. During this time there were the watch and ward systems, citizens were responsible for their own safety and the monitoring focused on moral and civil obligation. Criminal investigation was not part of these concepts and wealthier citizens paid others to protect them. Beginning in 1658, Philadelphia began paying people to watch and wardens could employ watchmen. This is then, when the policing and its concepts, responsibilities and titles began to change.

Change continued to the 1840’s where criminal investigation evolved into the new century, guidelines were set for officers and uniforms emerged. This has had a very effect on the force for so many years because of the guidelines and duties of officers. In the past time, officers were more into community and relations of communities and professional behavior. Today, many officers have forgotten what it means to be in tune with the community and have professional behavior. This is where one problem; police brutality comes in. Many forces have to deal with the problem of police brutality, and some forces merely ignore it.

The ethics of the policing is a bit broken, because of this police officers.There are many different cultures and races now in the society, and some officers don't honor that. Ethics is important, and having values and morals are important to people. Social classes and ethics groups are important as well for the police force now, but not in the beginning.
