The term “globalization”, which is the movement of capital, goods, people and ideas due to increased economic integration, has appeared and dominated the world in the last three decades. Multinationals, which are the result of globalization, usually operate their subsidiaries in developing countries in order to exploit cheaper labor cost and natural resources. Therefore, globalization has carried many disadvantages to underdeveloped countries in terms of environmental pollution and brain drain problems.

The most severe issue is environment has been contaminated arising from globalization. Firstly, the development of multinational corporations may result in abusing an excessive amount of non-renewable sources. For example, various forests have been cut down to supply raw materials for paper and furniture enterprises. As a result, deforestation has been happened and air has been polluted. In addition, operations of processing companies are likely to be the cause of water contamination. An instance of this is Vedan, a foreign company in Vietnam, which discharged wasted water to the Thi Vai River. Consequently, the water in this river was seriously dirty and poisonous.

Another negative effect of globalization is a brain drain in developing nations. Numerous employees immigrated to rich countries to be able to obtain higher income. Countries such as America, England and Canada are the best destinations for those who are skilled and experienced. Moreover, the research conditions in developed nations are probably equipped more perfectively. As a consequence, many scientists tend to live and work in more developed nations. That is reason why less-developed countries usually lose their proficient labor force for economic development.
