Strategic Choice and Evaluation

During week four of Strategic Planning and Implementation, members of Learning Team B discussed the various strategies that should be considered for each team member’s chosen organization. This paper provides a summary of the strategic plans for each organization including feedback from team members.

Robin Turner – Reliable Sources

Based on the on the SWOT analysis for Reliable Sources, Robin has chosen two possible strategies to implement:

1. Focus on providing exceptional customer service and competitive, low prices. Telephone and text message support should be added as a response method for online inquiries with a turnaround average of 24 business hours or less. Reliable Sources should also guarantee to match any competitor’s product price or honor competitors’ coupons if the customer provides authentic proof of lower price (i.e. sales papers, receipts, or coupons).

2. Focus on eBooks. Attempt to offer exclusive limited time offers such as distribution rights to newly released eBooks weeks before competitors (if Reliable Sources agrees to sell a certain amount distributors may agree to such contractual terms).

Tracy Lee – Orange Theory Fitness

Tracy’s organization, Orange Theory Fitness (OTF) also has two different types of strategies to consider when developing its strategic plan. According to Pearce and Robinson (2011) first discuss the generic strategy.

OTF has developed a unique work-out unlike any of their competitors. The most important generic strategy for OTF would be to continue to create and market their unique workout known as “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC (OTF, 2013 par. 1).

In order to move forward with this generic strategy, OTF must have a value discipline to complement the generic strategy. The grand strategy...
