Required Audience Profile

This audience profile is required as part of the week one assignment. Answer the questions below to create a thorough profile for your primary audience, Jeff Clarke, and your secondary audience, Human Resources.

1. Is my primary audience external or internal? The primary audience is internal which includes Jeff Clarke and my secondary audience is the Human Resources Department

2. What are some key demographics about my audience, such as age, gender, family situation, etc.? The audience incorporates middle aged adults both male and female. Part of the staff has family and other staff members do not have family members.

3. How much does my audience know about the topic? The audience is aware of the personal problems because Jeff Clarke’s co-workers have had to cover for him in prior instances. The only unaware of the situation is the Human Resource department. There is going to be a written reprimand due to the excessive use of emergency leave and shortage of staff in these instances.

4. How much formality does my audience prefer? It doesn’t need to be formal, but Jeff needs to understand that as an employee, there is a commitment to be present to complete his work or shift because it’s becoming unfair and inconvenient to fellow co-workers.

5. How do I expect my audience to react to this message? I expect Jeff to be upset about the situation because his grandmother is an important person in his life. He may feel the company is against him taking care of his grandmother, which isn’t the case. Business is business and we would like to see him fulfill his duties and see his grandmother get in healthier circumstances.

6. What are my audience’s values in relation to this message? What do they care about most? His values are definitely to be there for his grandmother, but a written letter will allow him to understand that he can’t keep pursuing emergency leaves. This should give him a sense...
