Solutions Focused Leadership

The team, starting with the known talents of the members of staff and faculty, and knowing what skills are needed to get the jobs done are basics tools that will be acknowledge in determining members. Work experience is a great place to start; however finding out the side projects and outside activities helps to gather a better in site on the personalities of our choices.

Once the hand chosen personnel are decided, then making the actual team goes into effect. Our first step is the selection of the team members, taking the time to put the correct peers together so that working together is not a problem. Teams that have peers that can’t work together will often fail. The teams should flow off of each other so that the ideas of each member have a chance to affect the growth of the new programs.

Next we identify our objective so that all members know their part in the growth and creation of the new projects. When the overall goals are identified each work on the team will be able to work independently and as a team where needed. Working cooperatively is a necessary task for the team to function; however knowledge of the project allows independent thinking.

Senior members and the best thinkers will be set as mediators: “one that mediates between parties at variance”, (Webster-Merriam, 2013) all teams run into disagreements. Having a plan in place with some of the senior and best thinkers can help smooth the pains of small disagreements when the team itself cannot. By using this tactic to manage the disagreements within the team, ensures that the overall team dynamics will not be damaged.
