1. What is the ultimate source of energy on the earth? Explain

The Sun is the ultimate source of energy. From the Sun, the plants get energy to prepare their foods and to grow so humans and animals will be able to survive. The plants need to harness the energy from the sun before it is used by humans and animals. Plants use the sun, water, chlorophyll, carbon dioxide and nutrients to produce glucose and alternative to energy. Glucose keeps heat and energy.

2. There are two types of energy, name each and define. Now relate how food is related to these types of energy. Fig. 4-4 can help you.

There are two types of energy kinetic energy and potential energy.

Kinetic energy is energy, which contains a moving mass or particle of matter. Kinetic energy could also be referred to as the “happening energy” Kinetic energy is the result of speed or mass of an object.

Potential energy is stored energy. The amount of physical work an object is able to do because of the position or mass related to another object. Potential energy is also found in dry and wet cell batteries and nuclear reactions.

Food is potential because with kinetic energy food would fly off the dish.

3. What is the energy molecule of the cell? When does it have the most potential energy? Describe the structure of this molecule?

ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate is the energy molecule of the cell.

Energy is used from APT molecule to work in the cell to remove one of the phosphate oxygen groups leaving adenosine diphosphate ADP. When ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate converts to ADP, the ATP is used up. The ADP usually recycles in the mitochondria where it is recharged and comes after ATP again.

ATP contains the purine base adenine and sugar ribose combined form nucleoside adenosine. This is the basic building blocks used in ATP, which is carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorus, which assembled, contains the number of subatomic parts equivalent to over 500 hydrogen...
