John Adams served as defense attorney for the solders. He was member of first congress in 1774. Met in Philadelphia to consider ways of redressing colonial grievances. Expressively waving his colleagues to a revolutionary course, he helped defeat by the narrowest of margins a proposal by the moderates for a species of American home role under British direction.

Lord North was prime Minister of England (yes man). His ministry collapsed in March 1782 after Yorktown.

Townshend acts (import duty on glass, white lead, paper , paint and tea) were repealed because in one year had only generated 275 pounds. Also nonimportation agreements were enforced. It was hurting British manufactures. The government of Lord North persuaded Parliament to repeal the Townshend Acts.

a second cousin of John Adams, he contributed a potent pen and tongue to The American Revolution as a political agitator and organizer of rebellion. He was the leading spirit in hosting the Boston Tea Party. A Failure in the brewing business, he was sent by Massachusetts to the First Continental Congress of 1774. He signed the Declaration of Independence and served in Congress until 1781.

Local organizations. They begin in Massachusetts by Samuel Adams. Their main functions was to spread the spirit of resistance by exchanging letters and thus keep alive opposition to British policy.

It was called to appeal “Intolerable acts”. Twelve of the thirteen colonies (Georgia missing) attended. Fifty-five well respected men, among them Samuel Adams, John Adams, George Washington and Patrick henry.
