Scenario 1

In this Scenario, Sarah has committed a Property Crime and will be charged with Larceny. Common law states the crime of Larceny is when a person unlawful takes and carries a way of someone else’s personal property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of possession (Miller, R., & Jentz, G., 2008,p.128). The factors that meet the requirements of Larceny are Sarah unlawfully picked up and carried away the property and Sarah intended to permanently keep the computer depriving Makoto. In addition, depending on what state Sarah lives in she may also be charged with grand or petit larceny depending on the value of the computer.

Scenario 2

In this Scenario, Sarah has committed a Property Crime and will be charged with Robbery. Robbery is when a person takes cash, personal property, or any other article of value from a person by means of force or fear(Miller, R., & Jentz, G., 2008,p.127). When Sarah held Makoto at gun point, he was forced to give her the computer because he feared that if he did not she would shoot him. Sarah could also be charged with aggravated robbery because she used a deadly weapon in the act. The factors of Sarah’s crime that fit the charge of Robbery are Sarah held Makoto at gun point; she forced him to give her the computer, and made Makoto fear for his life.

Scenario 3

In this scenario, Sarah has committed a Property Crime and will be charged with burglary. Burglary is defined under the common law as breaking and entering the dwelling of another at night with the intent to commit a felony (Miller, R., & Jentz, G., 2008,p.128). The factors of Sarah’s crime that fit the charge of Burglary are the crime was committed a night, she broke the lock on the door, and removed the computer from the residence.
