“Three Stories of my Life”

On June 12, 2005, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Computer Company gave a commencement speech at Stanford University that summed up his life lesson. Mainly, in this speech, Steve Jobs gave advices and life lessons in a form of a story. He expressed the importance of being true to yourself and living authentically throughout your career. The first story he mentioned on the speech was connecting the dots. How surprising the speech was, it began with his story of dropping out of college. He had ever tried being a college student, but then he realized, he chose a college so expensive and his parents were spending all their money on it. He had no idea what to do with his life and didn’t see the value so, he made a decision to quit from the college. After all this incident having a harsh life, a college dropout who had taken a calligraphy course and eaten at the Hare Krishna temple had come to design the first mass market graphical computer. That was a long gap of years after, Steve and his company friend made their first computer. It was really surprising to know that he can do it. He began to realize that he wouldn’t have done this if he wasn’t dropped out from college. His main point to this story was that, we can only connect the dots by looking back, not forwards. We just have to trust that they will connect. And every step we pass on our life connects with what we will have on the future. Don’t ever regret on what we do now, because it may be the best way from God.
