1. In what setting do you practice? How long have you been practicing?

I practiced in a non-profit agency that offered clinical services county-wide on a sliding scale. There were contracts with Child and Family Services of California, Violence prevention – which covered both the victim and offender, individual counseling, couples counseling, sex offender treatment groups of youths aged 11 – 18, anti-gang prevention programs, and mandated parenting education groups. Between field work, internship, and a suicide crisis hotline – time of practice was around 12 years.

2. What are your specialties or areas of clinical focus?

Since I participated in all the various programs, there probably wasn’t a specific specialty; however, the focus was marriage and family therapy. Title was Clinician II and I personally provided individual, couple, and family therapy as well as facilitating sex offender treatment groups for youth aged 11 – 14, anti-gang prevention groups, anger management groups, and parenting education groups.

3. What are the most common disorders you treat?

Since I did do more family therapy, the most common disorders in that area were separation anxiety, attachment disorders, substance abuse, PTSD, OCD, and co-morbid mental illnesses such as bipolar II, dissociative disorders – depersonalization, and adjustment disorders.

4. Do you have any special certifications or training beyond your original graduate coursework?

Yes, I was certified as an Active Parenting Educator, CASA Trainer, Crisis Interventionist, and Professional Advocate.

5. How do you approach therapy or treatment? Do you use specific modalities, techniques, or interventions?
