Interview with Walt Disney

Introduction

Hello, Mr Disney how is your day going? I’m Natalia and I will be asking you a few questions. It is so lovely to have you here today. First of all I’m going to ask you about the famous cartoon Mickey Mouse, how exactly did it come to be?, and why do you think it came to be so popular and humorous ?

Thank you Natalia, for having me here today, my day is going great thanks for asking, and well Mickey Mouse was a very interesting story. It all started with me having a mouse in the back of my head because a mouse is sort of a sympathetic character and the fact that everybody's frightened of a mouse including myself, so I started drawing different size circles until it became the form of a mouse. I asked my wife if we should call it Mortimer Mouse and she said to me ‘How about Mickey?’ and well I guess that’s how it came to be and well people laugh at Mickey Mouse because of his human characteristics and well I guess that’s his secret of his popularity.

Thank you Mr Disney for telling me and yes indeed it is very interesting story I’m sure I wouldn’t come up with that myself! Another very important question people have been wondering is; How did you become interested in drawing, what inspired you?

[Laughs] Well at a young age I was always interested in art. I used to do drawings and sell them to my neighbours and family friends, and in high school I studied art and photography. I guess I’ve always had a passion in me even when I went to France to drive an ambulance I had it covered in some cartoons I’ve drawn. I also always had a great imagination and that played a big part and it influenced a lot in my caricatures.

Well you sure succeeded with such a great imagination! Mr Disney would you please tell us what inspired you to come up with the idea of Disney land the successful theme park that everyone enjoys to be at?
