The alternative of intellectual property rights protection for developing countries

Introduction

Along with the advent of knowledge-based economic era, the effect of intellectual property rights protection has been exposed which evolves as one of the major objective for developed and developing countries to compete for. More and more countries are tending to perfect their protection system. The developed countries, like the U.S, Japan, have yielded notable results on the strategy implementation of intellectual property rights protection. Thus, how to confront the remarkable experience of the developed countries has become a significant issue. This paper will present the comparison analysis in intellectual property protection between the developed and developing countries and put forward a proposal for developing countries’ alternative. SWOT analysis will be adopted.

The intellectual property rights protection’s influence to the trade pattern

From the perspective of global trade, with the continuously enhancement in the intellectual property rights protection, the uneven distribution of global trade benefit has become strikingly polarized, which, to a certain extent, widen the gap between the North and the South. In the course of intellectual property rights protection, the interest of international trade flow into the developed countries due to its absolute monopoly predominance and the high dependence from developing countries. To be specific, we can conclude to the following aspects:
