grew up, I started to ask myself that same question. Who do you want to be? At age 39, I
still struggle with that question. I’ve held roles in the wireless industry for the past 20 years
ranging from Retail Sales Associate to Director of Sales. With no clear direction, I have simply
worked my way through the ranks. I seem to hold on to a position until I have mastered it and
then go looking for a challenge by stepping up into the next role. As I have moved up, the pay
and responsibility have increase dramatically. I really started to enjoy the responsibility. I
enjoyed the thrill of knowing that the company’s success depended on how well I did my job. I
also found myself stressing out that the company’s failures were also my responsibility. In
deciding what my career path would be, I had to take a look at myself. I had to find out “How
was I wired?” After several psychological test and career development exams, I found that I was
well suited for the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a small to midsize company.
I found out that in order to step up to the Vice President role, I would have to go back to school,
finish my degree and possibly finish a M.B.A. program. The education I needed was just so that
I could be considered a viable candidate for the role. I had to do more research on the role. I had
to find out what functions and job duties were required in order to be successful.I found myself
curious as to what the salary range was for this position. Lastly, I had to research to see if there
were any positions available locally or would I have to look elsewhere.

websites, I found that every open position requires a four year degree and many prefer a M.B.A.
