Most people often refer as to the past as unimportant and insignificant saying “The past is the past.” However, all of them end up in a history class because it is part of their graduating plan. They complain about all of the dates and names they have to remember thinking it does not apply to what they want to major in but little do they know that all of the information that they acquired in that history class can benefit them. History does matter because it can benefit everyone in their future major, and helps people understand the how the world that they live in came to be.

History matters because it can help you become more knowledgeable in the area that you are interested in majoring. If you are interested in Engineering you might be interested to look into Leonardo da Vinci from the Renaissance era. If you’re interested in becoming a surgeon you can look into John Hunter. For the most part, history is important to help you have a better understanding of the field you are interested in. History will tell you all of the background information needed to get you started in your career.

Without history everyone would be confused as how to how our world came to be. We would know absolutely nothing pertaining to our ancestors or the discoveries of made in the past which could be a key to a solution in the present. Thanks to history we know about Sir Isaac Newton’s theory on gravity. We wouldn’t even know that he got hit on the head by an apple. Like Michael Crichton said, “If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree.” Without history we are entirely clueless and is better for us to stay informed.
