“The cognitive evaluation theory is contradictory to reinforcement and expectancy theories.” Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

To show the relationship between them, we would have to define what they each theory means. The cognitive evaluation theory is when people in companies offer rewards as payoffs for superior performance. Getting rid of the rewards can produce a shift from a significant reason to a meager reason of why he or she works on a task. The theory may have limited applicability to work with companies because most low-level jobs are not essentially fulfilling enough to promote high interest. The reinforcement theory is more behavior related in advance and is clearly in disagreement to cognitive evaluation theory. The reinforcement theorists see behavior as being environmentally caused. It ignores how the person would feel about their treatment and concentrates only on what happens to a person when he or she takes some action. It’s without a doubt a significant influence on behavior, but few scholars are arranged to disagree that it is the only influence.

The expectancy theory is one of the most broadly established explanations of motivation. It argues that the strong point of an inclination to take action in a certain way depends on the potency of a probability that the action will be followed by a known result and on the charisma of that result to the individual. It explains that an employee will be motivated to exert a high level of effort only when that effort will lead to a good performance appraisal, that a good appraisal will lead to organizational rewards and/or that the rewards will satisfy the employee’s personal goals.

The combined relationship they share is an effort performance relationship. That’s the chance apparent by the person that exerting the effort that is needed will lead to performance.
