In the case of Islam, the act of worship is stated as the focal point of the religion, whereas Christianity the intent is more important than the act. Given this understanding, we are asked to compare the validity of this argument of whether Islam is based solely on act of worship rather than intent. However, in order to answer this argument, I will first have to describe how each practice their religion.

Christianity is a religion that has been upon us for many years governing many people and distinguishing the moral acts of many others. According to the course book, World Religions Today, “Christians differ ….and Muslims in their view of sin and how it is to be overcome. Most Christians define sin in terms of the concept of original sin, which says that the will to do good in all human beings was corrupted by the first human beings—Adam and Eve, who though their disobedience to God’s will, brought sin and death into the world. Thus most Christians believe that while human beings were created good, their good will (the desire to do what is good) was corrupted by the inherited consequences of the sin of Adam and Eve, so humans feel compelled to act selfishly. Humans are enslaved to the power of sin and not fully capable of obeying the will of God.”(Espositio, 149). On that note, Christians’ are defined as people who dwell on their intent to do morally right or wrong. Their practices are solely based on themselves; given the fact they dictate their own free will. The course book, World Religions Today, later details on how Jesus Christ was sent to save such sinners, therefore setting amends to all that have sinned by passing the word of God (Christianity) or having the moral intent to do good. The true goal essentially is to spend eternal life with God. When practicing Christianity, you are thought to believe in faith and in hope.
