RADICAL OPENNESS

Past were the days when “Openness” was never counted as an integral or important part of organizational growth, wherein now it has become an essential but innovative mean to strive in the market.

Radical Openness, is not only for an individual advantage, but it gives a global platform for people to participate in open, free, prosperous and sustainable economy.

Openness, which can be termed as transparency, should never be used to disclose privacy.

The article mentions four principles of Radical Openness, which led the companies to make a drastic radical progress from past.

Principle One: Collaboration.

This is openness in the sense that firms are keeping their boundaries more porous, flexible and open. So making open networks are making companies to strive in the market than when they were closed.

Principle Two: Transparency.

It is about the communication of precise information to partners or stakeholders. This implies companies have to be open and transparent for higher performing and faster processes. Here author shares example of Wikileaks.

Principle Three: Sharing.

Sharing is about providing rights to the ideas and inventions or giving up contents, resources or assets developed or implemented. The companies now prefer to share intellectual property and releasing patents so as to gear up the research, foster relationships and stimulate progress in the areas of profits, rather than to spend time and efforts to control and protect proprietary resources and innovations

Principle Four: Freedom.

Author mentions this quite correctly, that “The open world is bringing empowerment and freedom.” And mentions that the changes occurring by the openness is positive. Keeping the ideas, processes, innovation open to others, does not mean they will be defeated, after all, it will make a world better place to live, creating more empowerment, freedom and a collaborated intelligence team without leaders.
