Rate Of Reaction

Aim:

Our aim is to change the speed of reaction by temperature.

Prediction & Reason:

Our prediction is that, by making the substance hotter it will react quicker. We will do this by measuring the tempertature of the substance before the other substance is poured in, then seeing how fast it reacts.

Apparatus & Diagram:

* Bunsen Burner

* Pippet

* Tripod

* Heat Proof Mat

* Measuring Cylinder

* Beaker

Method & Fair Testing:

1) Firstly, we are going to measure out the liquid and set up our equipment.

2) Secondly, we are going to light the bunsen burner and put the Hydro Chloric Acid into a beaker and put it on the heat.

3) Then, We are going to put a themometer into the Hydro Chloric Acid until it's at the right temperature and take it of the heat.

4) Next, we will pour the Sulphide mixture into the hydro chloric acid and place it on peace of paper with a big black cross ( X ) marker on it. Making sure that the beaker is above the ( X ).

5) When we can no longer see the ( X ) it meens that the Substance has completely dissolved.

This test will be fair because; We are going to measure all the substances out equally each time, we are going to use the same coulered flame and we are going to use a stop watch to time each reaction.

Result table and Graph:

Conclusion:

Our conclusion was that by heating up the acid up the substance heated quicker and there-for the substance reacted quicker.

Evaluation:

I think i worked well in my group but, i could have got involved more and helped out with the bunsen burner.
