Introduction
The paper will explore how informed and contextually relevant persuasive strategies can be used to leverage adoption and acceptance issues. In addition to the latter an exercise of contextual inquiry will also be documented in order to provide guide lines for future designers attempting to develop and implement P2P or P2B mobile payment systems in different contexts.
Motivation: Because the mobile phone has turned into a 5th limb for users, it presents a unique opportunity platform persuasive design.
Objective: The paper proposes that by using mobile payment apps coated\alloyed with persuasive strategies, research data can be produced to convince merchants and other previously reluctant entities that mobile P2B technologies is indeed a feasible venture. It also cements the use of persuasive design as a tangible area of research.
It will build on the results of previous research Tapio Haanpera
Literature Review
This phase means to expose the challenges of adopting P2P and P2B mobile payment systems. M-PESA.
Research Problem
This phase crystalizes the problem area and identifies an area of research worth exploring
Preliminary study
This phase features a qualitative data gathering activity to attempt to establish what the most prevalent motivators are in a society. Motivators are ranked, value system, technical feasibility is outlined.
Methodology
Systematic approach to using a prototype built on the design considerations and results of the earlier phases. An experiment is staged, usually in real use case to provide the basis of the “proof of concept”
Analysis
The data from the experiment is analyzed to expose trends and there is an objective presentation of the data
Conclusion
Conclusions are drawn, guide lines are stipulated and an agenda for future research endeavors are proposed
