Family Network

The family contains three PC, Bluetooth wireless printer, VoIP phone and internet-enabled television. The three PC is separated by two rooms with one room with one PC and printer and another room with two PCs. The type of network I would recommend is wireless Ethernet star topology. This type of network will allow everything be setup easily around the house. The wireless router will be setup in middle of the structure where the signal is strong for all devices. The wireless signal then will broadcast throughout the whole network to the internet-enabled television and most television should have wireless connector and if not, we can purchase wire Ethernet or switch that can become a wireless bridge; similar with the VoIP phone and other devices in the house that may or may not need the wireless switch.

Enterprise Network

An enterprise level company would need both wired and wireless Ethernet connection for their employees. I would set up a wireless port in each few floors for strong signal and each floor would have enterprise switch that will connect each employee there. Each switch will be traveling down to the servers. This type of network connection is star bus topology. With this type of topology and connections for the employees they are able to do things they need from either their office or wireless on other location.

Server Applications

Web server – I would put this application in one server because the domain will be connected to this one IP and a web server doesn’t take much space.

Database – I would have separate servers because database tends to be large application and it will continue to grow.

Mail server – One server will be enough for this type of application because each mailbox contains amount of space for each user and it doesn’t take much space like web server.
