CHAPTER I
Introduction
Personality development involves the development of all aspects of personality which leads to the full development of a person’s potential. The development in his physical or biological, sociological, geographical, cultural, mental, emotional and moral aspect could lead to the achievement of his potentials.
According to Abraham Maslow in his theory of motivation, an individual seek to attain his self-actualization by fulfilling the fundamental needs. Thus in order for an individual to achieve his self-fulfillment, he must have the basic things that he should have.
One way to achieve self-actualization is to pursue career development. According to some authorities career development is the total constellation of psychological, sociological, educational, physical, economic, and chance factors that combine to influence the nature and significance of work in the total lifespan of any given individual.
It also dealt the evolution or development of a career - informed by experience within a specific field of interest, Success at each stage of development - and educational attainment.
But career development as aspect of personality development encounters some barriers why its pursuance sometimes does not progress.
There are so many things met along the way prior to have the fullest achievement of the peak of success this may by different interrelated factors that may be innate or outside the control of an individual but what matter is that this phase of personality development is an essential way of developing the wholesome personality of an individual.
