Reflection Paper

Immersions aren’t new to me since I have experienced it in high school, but the thing that made this immersion different is that we had to interact with them in their own home and I had to be with their whole family because in high school, it was only children and they were the ones to go to our school. Also it we had to spend time with them for four to five hours, of course we did expect some awkward silence. So preparing for this trip the first thing I did was to let go of all my stereotypes, because If went there with that type of thinking then I wouldn’t enjoy my stay there and I would spend my whole stay there being afraid. Of course fear was still present but all I wanted to do was enjoy it. When we arrived at Bagumbong, they really welcomed us, especially teacher Russle, he made this whole experience somewhat lighter to me because he explained everything to us and made us laugh, he actually reminded me of my close friend in high school, How I miss high school! ARRIBA LETRAN!

So when me and my partners name, Jenina Melchor, was called we really felt excited and nervous, nervous because we have this thing that even if we look at each other, we immediately laugh and we felt that I we do this we might offend the family, fortunately we somehow managed to control it. Our host families name was Catubig. They were a big family, but in their house, they were only seven. Ate Helen, the mother. Her four kids, Miles, Keng-Keng, Javoyce, not sure if I spelled that right, and benjict. But originally they have seven siblings and Ate Helen’s three years old granddaughter, Bea, I liked her, she was really cute, friendly and hyper, she would ask me to carry her while she drinks her milk. This made me feel like a mom. And the father, which we didn’t get the chance to meet because he was working.
