1. The human skeleton was created to with stand the knocks of life. It provides the framework of the human body and protects vital organs. It’s a place for storing energy and movement.

2. Osteoclast breaks down the bones; it secretes enzymes that break the bone structure down. Osteoblasts build bones also called ossification. Secretes protein necessary for bone development.

3. Everybody have at least 206 bones but some have less or more. When we are born we have 270. 26 bones are in the spine and 22 in the skull.

4. Calcium, phosphorous, vitamins A, C and D are all needed but vitamin D is the most important. Lack of vitamin D could cause rickets and also without calcium the bones could fracture more easily.

5. Joints are where 2 or more bones make contact. Ligaments connect the bones together to make a joint. Tendons connect the muscles to the bones.

6. Axial Skeleton is bones that protect and support organs of the head. It consists of skull 8 cranial and 14 facial bones .Auditory bones that make up the ear bones, hyoid bones that support the tongue. Also 26 vertebral bones and 12 pairs of ribs. Appendicular Skeleton is bones of the limbs and hip blades. It consists of pectoral girdle, the upper and lower extremities and the pelvic girdle.

7. Long bones are most of the upper and lower extremities example the femur and humerous. Short bones are like your wrist and ankle bones (carpal and tarsal’s). Flat bones are the skull and sternum. Irregular bones include the vertebral and pelvic bones.
