Penang is one of the top main states in Malaysia. Actually Penang is a state located on the northwest coast of the Peninsular Malaysia. Penang is also known as the island of the eastern pearl. Penang is consists of two parts of the island (Penang Island) and the mainland (Seberang Perai). Penang is an island of 293 km² (113 sq. mi) located in the Straits of Malacca and Seberang Perai is a narrow hinterland of 753 km² (291 sq. mi). Penang is famous with their variety of food. Both local and international citizen would love their food. Among the famous food would be Laksa Penang, Cendol and also Nasi Kandar. Penang main city is Georgetown.

GEORGETOWN CITY CENTRE

Georgetown is named after Britain's King George III. Georgetown known as the city that has a high population and most advanced city. Georgetown is the second largest metropolitan city in Malaysia located in the northern region after Kuala Lumpur and is separated by a headland Seberang Perai on the mainland of Peninsular Malaysia by the North Channel. It has population around 740 200 and the area of these area is 121km². The top landmarks that can be seen are KOMTAR Tower, Kek Lok Si Temple, Queen Street, Cannon Street and Jubilee Clock Tower.

Georgetown has a great popularity when it comes to tourism. As the capital of Penang, Georgetown has one of the largest collections of 19th and early 20th century building among south East Asia countries. Many proclaim Georgetown Penang as a living historical city with inner city communities, mysterious place of worship, guilds, day and night markets, bazaar, traditional trades and retail shops. The town a magical wanders of Penang and is a lively city by itself. There is no doubt that some of best Penang places of interest lie in the historic city of Georgetown. Centered on the famous fort Cornwallis, Georgetown has been shaped many years by trade, commerce and good old fashion graft.
