Employee Training
After the successful merging of InterClean and EnviroTech, as a midlevel sales manger I was selected to create a development plan to ensure the success of the company. Through the merger, six new positions were created and six employees were selected to fill those positions, all of which are assigned to my team. Although each member was previous employees of either company, a training plan must be established to ensure the success of the team. Before the training begins, the employees will receive an orientation for the formality and relaxation of the team.
One of the most neglected areas of training is new-employee orientations (Cascio, 2005). (ascio,2005,p29). With the employees relocating into a new working environment, the fear of what is going to happen on the new job; will I be able to handle this new job; what is expected of me, and will I get along with the new people I will be working with; are just a few of the questions running through their minds; which also makes them feel a little uneasy. The orientation is done to relax the employees, it is recommended that three major areas be covered in the orientation: (1) company standards, traditions, and policies; (2) social behavior; and (3) technical aspects of the job (Cascio, 2005). Since this job is not completely new to any of the employees, but the newly developed business strategy is, the orientation will first consist of a one on one with David Spencer, President and CEO of InterClean. He will explain the vision and new business strategy for the company and express to them how important their part as employees plays into its success of the company.
